The purpose of the 9th grade extended year is to help students gain a clearer vision of what their future may be.

      • Embed your essay "2015 Extended Year Personal Reflection" into the "Personal Reflection" page

      • In your Google Calendar, create a "CSSM" calendar and insert all the events beginning at 9th grade July in the college planning timeline
      • Embed the Google Calendar at the bottom of your "My Plan" page

    1. While logged into your Google account, go to www.google.com/calendar and create a new calendar - e.g. CSSM
    2. Using the college planning timeline as your guide, create events in the appropriate months beginning July of your 9th grade year.
      • For the shadowing items, be specific about the career and location you will be shadowing.
      • Ignore any football (FB) items on the planning timeline
      • Be sure to add a reminder (email, popup, and/or text)
    3. Embed that calender at the bottom of your "My Plan" page

      • Compete Personality Tests:

      • Create "Career Exploration" web page
      • Complete 5 Career Journals

    1. Create "Self-Awareness" page on your website.
    2. Compete Personality Tests:
      • For each test, enter a summary of your results and short reflection in your "Self-Awareness" page on your website.  
        • Your summary should thoughtful responses to the following questions:
          • What did this assessment tell me? (What were my results?)
          • How accurate do I feel this assessment was? (Does this test represent who or how I think I am?)
          • What are the implications of this assessment to my career decisions? (How will this test affect my career decisions?)

      • Create "Career Exploration" page on your website.
      • Select 5 Careers to explore based on your Naviance Tests and Personality Tests
      • Complete a Career Journal for each of these careers. Template can be found by clicking here.  Be sure to rename each career journal appropriately.

      • Today's Goals:
        • Create 5 sub-pages under "Career Exploration," 1 for each of the 5 careers you have chosen to explore   
        • Acquire details for 10 professionals to shadow (2 for each career)

      1. Under your "Career Exploration" page, create a sub-page for each of the 5 careers you have chosen to explore.
      2. Change the layout to 2 column - the one that is like a sandwich with 2 columns between the bread (NOT the 2 column simple)
      3. In the top text box (top piece of bread), embed your career journal for that occupation
      4. In the middle two text boxes, enter the information for possible locations to shadow and all the required information. Click here to see an example career sub-page
      5. Link the career sub-page to each career listed on your "Career Exploration" page.

    III) COLLEGE RESEARCH - Day 1

        • Continue to acquire details for 10 professionals to shadow (2 for each career)
        • On each career sub-page, embed a college research spreadsheet
        • Create a "College Research" page with links to each of the career sub-pages

      1. Open, make a copy (file --> make a copy --> rename), and rename the College Research Template as "College Research - [Career]"
      2. Fill in all of the fields
        • Find 5 Colleges
          • College in Ohio
          • Out of state 
          • <$20k
          • Long Shot
          • Other relevant college of your choice
        • Use  Naviance  to assist you in acquiring the college information
        • Going to the college website admissions page may also assist in completing the table.
      3. Embed the appropriate completed spreadsheet at the "lower piece of bread" text box in each of the 5 career sub-pages you've already created
      4. Create a top level "College Research" web page
      5. Complete the "My Ideal College" list 
      6. List all 5 careers and link to each career sub-page

        • Create a "College Exploration" Page with links to your 5 career sub-pages and a list of your top 5 colleges choices.

      2. Create a "College Exploration" Page with links to your 5 career sub-pages and a list of your top 5 colleges choices (that you added in your Naviance account).

        • Create a "My Plan" page with embedded CV
        • In "My Plan" page, complete 3 year plan items

      1. Open your Curricula Vitae in your Google Drive
        1. If you don;t have one, click here.
        2. Make a copy (file --> make a copy --> rename), and rename the CSSM CV Template as "CSSM CV - [Your Name]"
      2. Update your CV with high school only items.
      3. Create a "My Plan" top-level web page (click here to view the example website). Use a 3 Column (not simple) layout
      4. In the top text box, embed your CV Google Doc
      5. In the middle three columns complete the template found at the example website.
